At Château Calú, we choose to start in Veneto, a region where vineyards stretch as far as the eye can see and tradition blends gracefully with innovation. It is the birthplace of Prosecco, but also home to family-run wineries crafting wines born from patience and respect for the land.
We seek hidden treasures: small, authentic estates where every bottle bears the mark of its terroir and the hands that nurtured it. For us, a glass of wine is never just an indulgence — it is a connection to the land, to history, and to the present moment.

About Château Calú
Château Calú was born from a simple obsession: the belief that the best wines in the world deserve a better home in Romania.
We are Adrian and Claudia — two people with very different relationships with wine, who somehow ended up building the same thing together.
Two perspectives, one cellar
For Adrian, it started in the vineyards. Travelling through northeast Italy, discovering small producers making wines that never made it onto supermarket shelves or mainstream wine lists. Wines grown on volcanic soils, fermented in old oak, bottled by families who’ve been doing this for generations. The kind of wine that makes you stop mid-sentence and just drink.
For Claudia, it started at the table. The way a well-chosen bottle changes the atmosphere of a dinner. The way wine becomes shorthand for something you can’t quite put into words. She wanted to bring that feeling — that sense of a real moment — to Brașov, to Romania.
Château Calú is what happens when those two perspectives meet.
What we do
We import and curate an exclusively hand-selected range of Veneto wines — primarily from family producers in northeastern Italy who we know personally and visit regularly. Every bottle in the Château Calú collection has been tasted, considered, and chosen with one question in mind: does this wine make someone’s evening better?
Our range includes everything from everyday Prosecco and fresh whites, to structured reds, rare dessert wines, and bottles you genuinely cannot find anywhere else in Romania. We carry bio-certified and vegan wines, wines made from indigenous grape varieties, and labels produced in quantities so small they never reach the international market.
Why Veneto?
Northeastern Italy — the Veneto region — is one of the most diverse and underrated wine territories in the world. It produces everything from the world’s most-exported sparkling wine to bold, age-worthy reds and extraordinary sweet wines. Yet most of its best producers are too small, too independent, and too focused on craft to build the kind of distribution that reaches Romania through conventional channels. That’s the gap Château Calú exists to fill.
